Dr Reuter is a blog author and past T2S grant applicant. He was a member of the executive of the International Social Science Council. He is professor at the University of Melbourne’s Asia Institute. After obtaining his PhD from ANU in 1997, he taught at Heidelberg University, held post-doctoral and QElI Fellowships at Melbourne, a Monash Research Fellowship and an ARC Future Fellowship. He was President of the Australian Anthropological Association (2002-2005) and chair of the World Council of Anthropological Associations (2008-2012). He is currently Senior Vice-President of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences, a member of the board of Future Earth (Asia), a fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science, and has been an expert adviser to IPBES and IPCC. Research in Indonesia and beyond has focused on indigenous people, social movements, religion, political elites, sustainability, food security and globalisation.
