In September 2014 seed grants of up to €30,000 each were awarded to 38 applicants from a field of more than 500 candidates. The seed grants were intended to enable researchers to build or extend the international, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams needed to prepare a strong proposal in response to the main call for proposals which was issued in December 2014.
The seed grants ran from September 2014 to March 2015, and involved researchers from all over the world. Outputs from the seed grant phase include journal articles, press coverage and recordings.
