Addressing persistent and worsening global environmental problems, such as climate change, biodiversity loss and resource depletion, will require socio-technical systems such as energy, transport and housing to undergo fundamental change, and, in some cases, total transformation. This T2S knowledge brief presents the ‘Multi-level perspective’, which is a research approach to understanding how such changes might be brought about.
It is based on the paper by Geels, F. W. July 2019. Socio-technical transitions to sustainability: a review of criticisms and elaborations of the Multi-Level Perspective. Current Opinion in Environmental Sustainability (in press).
